Sports News

I salute you all. It has been a great term as far as sports are concerned. This term, the Potterhouse School wound up its sports agenda by thrashing Rusinga, Braeburn and Aga Khan; lost to Coast Academy and Braeside and drew rugby with Waldorf. The most thrilling victory was by the Potterhouse Girls soccer team thrashing Braeburn 5 – 0 at their own yard. Bravo Potterhouse teams and special mention to team captains. Next term, the sports activities will be dominated by hockey and therefore please kindly buy your child a hockey stick and protective equipment.

Potterhouse, Samaj, Lukenya, Oshwal and St. Austin’s soccer teams age group 5- 17 years old will land the second opportunity to represent Kenya in Barcelona – Spain. They will take part in a tournament dabbed Costa Daurada Cup that attracts youth from all over the world. Herewith is a testimonial from one parent who had accompanied Potterhouse team, “we had an amazing trip. If you only visit one city in Spain, it should be Barcelona. There was a fantastic structured schedule that allowed us to really see just everything Barcelona had to offer in term of its history, tradition, sporting and culture influences. The organizers were so fantastic too. Thank you very much for setting up that tour.”- - - Ms. Mary Murungi, Spain trip.

Many people love water but surprisingly, many do not know how to swim. Swimming skill is a lifetime skill that every person should learn. The Potterhouse swimming club runs and organizes aquatic activities to bridge this gap. The Programmes offer opportunity where many get the chance to learn to swim, improves their strokes, nurture talent and appreciate how swimming improves their health. On the same note, there will be a swimming camp for one week in 12th Dec - 16th Dec, 2011 that will as well incorporate children from other schools and adults. It will go at kshs. 5,000 and kindly sign up for limited spaces.

Please share with us the joy and challenges of our athletes as they report back to you about their sporting experience. This would impart positively to our training. My parting shot as I conclude, “youth are the leaders of tomorrow and let us engage them in sporting activities in preparing for their bright future and only laziness can spoil it.” Thanks and be blessed all.

Kind Regards,
